Rapper Slim Dunkin Murdered After Fight Over Candy, Witnesses Tell Police

Atlanta police say the death of Bricksquad rapper Slim Dunkin started from a fight over candy sold inside the recording studio where the shooting took place.

Homicide detective David Quinn gave WSB-TV a play-by-play of Mario “Slim Dunkin” Hamilton’s killing on Friday night.

“Someone came in and struck him, and a fight ensued,” Quinn said. “Now the information we’re getting, and it’s unconfirmed, but witnesses are saying that this whole thing started over a piece of candy.”

According to WSB-TV, Slim Dunkin’s attacker went out to attain a gun after a dispute over the candy, “based on the evidence we have, whoever he was fighting with secured a weapon and shot him.”

Quinn added that the studio was filled with “at least 20-30 people” at the time of the shooting who were prepping for a photo shoot.

The rapper was shot around 5:30 p.m. Friday at the small recording studio in southeast Atlanta and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said at the time that witnesses were giving conflicting accounts of what happened.

“It seems everybody witnessed something very different,” police Maj. Keith Meadows told the AP. “We’re just trying to go back and make sense of everything.”
