“Sprina” may always have Paris, but alas, we won’t always have “Sprina.” Our sister site TVLine reports that General Hospital Emmy winner Nicholas Alexander Chavez begins his leave of absence from the role of Spencer following the show’s Wednesday, Jan. 31, episode. Since his character is supposed to be moving to France so that girlfriend Trina can spend an enviable semester abroad, you might assume that Tabyana Ali would also be taking a break.
The thing is, it ain’t necessarily so. TVLine’s mole says that the actress will not be taking a break as Curtis and Portia’s daughter.
As by now you must know, Chavez’s temporary exit from Port Charles is so that the up-and-comer can star in Season 2 of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix anthology series Monster — officially titled Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story. He is playing Lyle Menéndez opposite relative newcomer Cooper Koch (as brother Erik). Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny headline the cast as the killers’ ill-fated parents, Jose and Kitty Menéndez.
And don’t ya just love that the Netflix teaser for the drama “introduces” Chavez. Um, we’ve known what a rock star he is for years now, thanks.
